Christine Drury

Prior to her newest venture, for more than 10-years, Christine worked at Eli Lilly & Company. Nearly seven of those ten years, as the director of Research and Development (R&D) Communications. In her role, she supervised a talented team of people, along with a New York-based communications agency. Her team´s deliverables included internal communications, external communications, executive visibility, executive speech writing, social media and a variety of pipeline initiatives. Christine rose quickly in her career at Lilly, starting with the company in November of 2003 working in Global Product Communications on Yentreve, ™ currently marketed outside the United States for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women. She was then promoted into oncology communications where she and her team contributed to a record-breaking number of entries into Lilly´s Oncology on Canvas™ program, designed to give a voice to cancer patients through painting. She was then promoted into corporate responsibility communications and then shortly thereafter into her role as the head of communications worldwide for R&D.

Prior to coming to Lilly, Ms. Drury served as a broadcast journalist for the Indianapolis market´s NBC and ABC affiliates, working primarily as a morning show reporter. She covered a variety of breaking news ranging from weather, to traffic-related deaths and house fires. She took a break from her television career in the late 1990’s to establish a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and education about a little known medical condition she used to suffer from called idiopathic craniofacial erythema, also known as chronic facial blushing. She was relieved from it following a surgical procedure performed in Sweden.

Christine’s story is documented in Dr. Atul Gawande´s New York Times bestselling book “Complications” as well as The New Yorker magazine. She also appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America with Charlie Gibson and Dr. Nancy Snyderman to share her experience with this medical condition.

As the Managing Director of Conference Ventures and Christine Van Marter Consulting, LLC, Ms. Drury hopes to help clients and customers to successfully promote their businesses, products and services through her PR, Business Development savvy and financial planning skills for the benefit of the communities they serve and beyond.

Ms. Drury is a proud alumni of Purdue University where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Society. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications.
